Alma “Jean” (Thurman) Garrison, 84, of Springfield, MO passed on June 29, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born March 28, 1927 to Lon and Alice (Gann) Thurman. Jean was the youngest of seven children. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers (Ted, Tim and Lowell) and three sisters (Mable, Lois and Dortha).
At 12 years old she accepted Christ and was baptized. The family moved to Conway, MO where she attended Conway High School and was awarded a scholarship to Draughn’s Business College.
In 1947 she was married to Charles “Bud” Garrison and to this union four children were born. She was preceded in death by her husband “Bud” and son Johnny. She is survived by her daughters Pam (Gerry), Cindy and Judy; four grandchildren Scott (Mary), Todd (Heather), Rachael and Ashley; and three great grandchildren Emilee, Lance and Dylan.
A special thank you to her pen pals: Alta Patton, Betty Jump and Paul Butler for making her life brighter. She will be missed by her faithful companion Teddy the Jack Russell.
Weep not for me as I have gone on to a much better place on high.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, July 2, 2011 at 2:00 pm in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held Friday, July 1, 2011 from 6-8 pm at the funeral home.
