Alma Lucille Bass, 94, Springfield, Mo., passed away Sunday, July 5, 2009, in Woodland Manor. She was born in Deepwater, Mo., on July 21, 1914. Alma worked for Heers for 21 years. She was united in marriage to Roy E. Bass on July 20, 1929, and they were married 50 years until Roy’s death in 1981. She was a member of National Heights Baptist Church. In addition to her husband, Alma was preceded in death by her mother, Edith Cook; father Jessie A. Keys; daughter Dorothy L. Gouty; son-in-law Doran D. Gouty; brother William Keys; and dear friend of 26 years, Lyman Jennings. She is survived by her granddaughter, Linda D. Shelton of California; and great-grandchildren, Bryan Shelton and wife, Sarah of Colorado, Jonathan Shelton of Oregon, and Jessica Shelton of California. Services will be held in National Heights Baptist Church at 1 p.m. Friday, July 10. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held in Greenlawn Funeral Home North from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 9. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to National Heights Baptist Church, 3050 N.
