Almon H. Maus, 88, of Springfield, passed away Monday, January 9, 2012 at The Manor at Elfindale.
Almon was born March 17, 1923. He was educated in Springfield Public Schools, graduating from Central High School in 1940. He attended Southwest Missouri State and the University of Missouri (LL.B. 1948). Almon served overseas in the Army Air Force during World War II. He married Doris Elaine Day in 1942.
He engaged in general practice in Monett until being appointed to the Court of Appeals effective January 2, 1979 until 1993. Almon served as Probate Judge and Magistrate of Barry County from 1949 to 1950. He was a member of the Supreme Court Committee on Rules of Juvenile Procedure and Lawyers Specialization. He was also the author of three volumes of the Missouri Probate Law and Practice.
Almon is survived by his wife Elaine, a son Dr. Stephen Maus and his wife Nancy and a daughter Dr. Sherill Easterling and her husband Jerry Springer. He is also survived by a granddaughter Natalie Clark and her husband Bill; step-grandchildren Judson Pyatt and wife Laura, Alisha Gray, Dr. Benson Pyatt and wife LeAnn and Lisa Easterling; great grandchildren Cooper and Collin; step-great grandchildren Lillian, Lincoln, Sydney, Anson and Leeson and a cousin Miss Virginia Smith. He is also survived by Lindy Maus and her husband Rick Grayson.
Memorial services will be at 12:00 noon Friday, January 13, 2012, at Greenlawn Funeral Home East with visitation from 11:00 to 12:00 before services. A private family inurnment will be in Missouri Veterans Cemetery.
