Alpha Gene “Skitch” Wright Sr., a beloved husband, father, and dedicated community member, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2026, in his lifelong hometown of Springfield, Missouri. He was born on September 16, 1945, in Springfield, where he spent his formative years, graduated from Central High school, and built a life rich in both family and purpose. He was united in marriage to the love of his life Wilma Glenn on May 16, 1969.

As the proud owner and operator of Wright Brothers Trash Company, Gene devoted his career to serving his community, ensuring that Springfield remained clean and sustainable. His commitment to hard work and excellence was evident in everything he did, and his friendly demeanor left a lasting impression on both his customers and employees. When not at work Gene’s passions were restoring Classic Cars,and spending time with his family and friends. Gene’s integrity and dedication were matched only by his love for his family.

Gene is survived by his devoted wife, Wilma Wright, and his two sons, Scott Wright and Alpha Wright Jr and wife Nana; 5 grandchildren, Scott Wright Jr, Preston Wright, Aiden Wright, Joseph Wright, and Julia Wright; and a host of family and friends. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Harmon and Velma Wright; and two brothers Ralph Wright and Kent Wright.

Graveside services will be at 2:30 pm, Friday, May 15, 2026 at Plum Grove Cemetery, Humansville, MO
