It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Alvie Kenneth Seamster, who left this world on June 20, 2026, at the age of 93. Alvie was born on December 27, 1932, in Polk County, MO, He was united in marriage to Venna Lavon Barnes November 11, 1950.
Despite having only completed the 8th grade, he lived a life filled with hard work and dedication as a carpenter in the construction industry for over 43 years in the Wichita, KS, area. Alvie’s craftsmanship and commitment to his work spoke volumes. He embodied the spirit of those who knew the value of hard labor and the love of building something lasting. As a result, he was able to build his forever home for him and Venna.
He was a strong, dependable man, cherished by his family and friends. He loved going fishing and camping in his earlier years, and later in life he enjoyed spending time with family playing many different games but did not like to lose. He was able to “witch a well” on his property.
Alvie was preceded in death by his parents Artie Elgie and Bessie B. (Lightfoot) Seamster; his wife Venna Lavon Seamster; two sons: Alan and Leslie; a grandson Chad; six brothers: Donnie, Jonnie, Edsel, Junior, Willard, and Charles; and four sisters: Nola, Betty, Shirley, and Juanita.
Alvie is survived by his daughter, Sandra Schmidt and son in-law Mick; eight grandchildren: James Seamster, Jeremy “J.D.” Seamster, Tracy Anderson, Shane Skelley, Sheri Resser, Samantha Seamster, Stasha Wells, and Angela Schmidt; numerous great grandchildren; as well as many other relatives and friends, who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.
Funeral services will be held at Pitts Chapel at 1:00 PM. Monday, June 29, 2026. Burial will follow at Payne Cemetery Polk, MO. Prior to the funeral, there will be a visitation starting at 11:30 AM to 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Family and friends are encouraged to come together to celebrate Alvie’s life and share their fond memories of him. Online condolences may be made at: www.greenlawnfuneralhome.com. His legacy will surely live on in the hearts of those who knew him. Rest in peace, Alvie. You will be missed dearly.
