Anita “Joy” Copeland, age 61, of Springfield, MO, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Thursday, March 24, 2011 at St. John’s Medical Center after a two year battle with cancer. She was born February 24, 1950, in Yakima, WA, to Bill and Alberta (Thompson) Copeland.
She actively attended Living Hope Fellowship, Springfield, worked at the Society for the Blind, was involved with the Lutheran, “Now I Can See” Blind Outreach Center, and an advocate for Through the Roof, a disability ministry of Living Hope. Joy loved music, singing, playing the piano, and enjoyed playing all types of games while socializing with friends.
Her parents preceded her in death.
She is survived by her brother, David Copeland and wife, Teresa, Puyallup, WA; uncles, Rev. James Leo Thompson and wife, Venita, and Paul Copeland and wife, Colleen, all of Springfield; aunts, Marjorie King, Humansville, and Norma Strait and husband, Roy, Springfield; one nephew, Jonathan Copeland and wife, Merri, Olympia, WA; two nieces, Jennifer Puckett and husband, Jeromy, Monmouth, OR, and Julie Jorgensen and husband, Jeff, Yakima, WA; and many extended family and friends.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, March 30, 2011 in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. A celebration of life will follow at Living Hope Fellowship at 11:30 A.M.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family for funeral expenses.
