Dr. Anita M. Isaac, 86, of Springfield, Missouri passed away Saturday, April 23, 2011. She was born December 29, 1924 in Hays, Kansas and earned her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Kansas in 1949, finished an internship for the New York Infirmary for Women, and completed a residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in 1955. She married in 1950 and had 3 children, Kathryn, James and Carol, while practicing in Central Kansas. She moved to Springfield and opened the first rehabilitation program from 1970-1980. She then moved back to Topeka as Chief of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the VA from 1980-1985 and was able to frequently babysit new twin grandsons before moving back to Springfield to work at the Missouri Rehab Center until retiring in 1990. She is survived by two of her children, James and Carol and three grandchildren, Richard, Gregory, and Kevin and many other family members and friends.
A memorial service is planned at the First Unitarian Universalist Church, 2434 E. Battlefield Street, Springfield, MO 65804, Saturday May 28, 2011 at 4:00 pm with a reception following. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to the charity of your choice.
