Ann Marie Handel, 93, passed away April 15, 2015, in Springfield, MO. She was born December 23, 1921, in Omaha, NE, to Gunner and Verna Lundback. She lived most of her life in Kansas City, KS, before retiring to the Kimberling City area with husband Edward in 1991 and then to Springfield where she has lived for the past 17 years. She worked 25 years as a secretary for the U.S. Department of Labor in Kansas City, MO and sang alto in the church choir while a member of All Saints Lutheran Church in Kansas City, KS.
Ann was predeceased by husband Edward Handel, married 53 years, and sister Dorothy Stanton. She is survived by children, Gary Handel (Donna), Reeds Spring, MO; Peggy Mathes (Stan), Springfield, MO; grandchildren, Bob Handel (Christine), Hawthorne Woods, IL; John Handel (Wendy), Milton, ON; Mark Mathes (Staci), Greenwood, MO; Michael Mathes (Kelly), Presque Isle, ME; Jen Parks (Simon), Milton, ON; and 10 great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 23rd at 12:30 at Greenlawn Funeral Home East in Springfield with funeral service to follow at 1:30. Burial will be at the new Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield.
