Arlene “Artie” Carolyn (Fortmeyer) Parmele, age 76, passed from this life surrounded by her three children and other beloved family members on Monday, July 1 in Springfield.
Artie was born September 7, 1936 to Albert and Mary Magdalen Fortmeyer in Caldwell, Kan. She graduated from Caldwell High School. In 1959, she married Joe Parmele. They lived in Wichita, Kan., where they had three children together.
In her later life, she lived in Springfield, Mo., near her children and grandchildren. She greatly enjoyed a fine steak, spending time with her family, buying presents for others, and playing cards. She attended James River Assembly and First Evangelical Free Church with her children. These last few years she lived at The Montclair. Artie will be remembered for her warmth, generosity, and playful spirit.
She is preceded in death by both her parents and former husband, Joe.
Those she leaves behind to miss her include her two brothers, Leon Fortmeyer and wife Almeta, and Dennis Fortmeyer; her son, Daniel Parmele and wife Diana; daughters, Dayna Ball and Darla Tate and husband David Tate; grandchildren: Brandi Freeman and husband Enoch, Courtney Grady, Ryan Grady, Halley Parmele, and Bella Parmele; and many more dear friends and extended family.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate and remember Artie’s life at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 6, in the James River Assembly South Campus Chapel. Interment will follow in Caldwell, Kan.
