Austin “Gail” Dill, age 86 of Springfield, Missouri, departed this life for his heavenly home on October 5, 2024. He was born on March 29, 1938, in Buffalo, Missouri to Dorothy (Austin) and Ab Dill. He was one of three children. Gail enjoyed a childhood of country living. He was at home with the natural world and it with him. He had a pet crow that followed him everywhere and would wait patiently daily for the school day to end to walk home with him. He also had a pet raccoon. He graduated Elkland High School in 1956.
Gail married Etta “Darline” Tracy on February 23, 1959, in Buffalo, Missouri. They were married 65 years. To this union three children were born. He committed his life to Christ at Center Point Church at the age of 20 and was baptized in Greasy Creek near Buffalo Missouri. He Lived his life in service to this calling and most recently had been a member of Wells of Joy Church in Nixa, Missouri. Gail was preceded in death by his parents Dorothy and Ab Dill, a sister Merilee (Dill) Laughlin, a brother James Charles Dill, and nephew James Charles Dill Jr.
Gail is survived by his wife Darline (Tracy) Dill, his children Tracy Brian Dill, Christy (Dill) Howser, and Kelly Hanes Dill. He is also survived by his six grandchildren, Nicolas Austin Anderson, Lucas Allen Anderson, Christopher Adam Dill, Benjamin Matthew Dill, Mariah Mae White, Caylee Breeze Howser, and one great-grandchild Parker Howard Anderson.
Gail and his family enjoyed countless hours of fishing adventures thought the years. In addition to being an accomplished fisherman he became an avid tennis player. His greatest pleasure came form being of service to his family and friends.
Visitation for Gail will be Tuesday, October 8, 2024, from 5:00 ~ 7:00 PM.
