B. Wayne Johnson was born close to Yukon, Mo. near Houston, MO in Texas
County on April 13, 1927.
B. Wayne and Betty Sue (Campbell) were married December 30, 1955 at the Licking Church of Christ, Licking, MO by Minister, Allie Frakes.
B.Wayne and Betty Sue have enjoyed 56 years of marriage as of December 30, 2012.Their union has brought forth four children into the world.
Rickey Wayne Johnson of St. Louis, MO, Gail Sue Johnson Skalicky of Bolivar, MO, Kevin Paul Johnson of Lebanon, MO, and Christy Ann Johnson of Ozark, MO . Spouses of children are:
Al Skalicky husband of Gail, Sandy Johnson wife of Kevin, and Garry Hodges, Fiancé of Christy. Grandsons Matt Johnson and spouse Betsy, Chad Johnson and spouse Crystal, by Kevin Johnson (Father). Grandson Zachary Richardson by Christy (Mother), Grandsons Christopher and Jonathan by Gail (Mother),
Granddaughters Faith Ann and Mackenzie Richardson by Christy (Mother).Great Grandsons Bryan and Benjamin Johnson by Matt Johnson , Jasher and Justus Johnson by Chad Johnson.
B. Wayne is survived by his loving wife Betty of the home, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as sons in law and daughter in law, along with a host of cousins, in laws, and many friends.
B. Wayne’s parents, C.C.(Lum) and Nellie E. preceded him in death along with three sisters, Ruby Brannam, Alliance, OH, Goldie Williams, Branson, MO, Von McCullough, Alliance, OH and one brother Paul of Elk Grove, CA.
B. Wayne’s Elementary Education was obtained from Raymondville, MO School; he graduated from Licking High School in 1945.
In 1945 B.Wayne joined the U.S. Navy and served on the USS BonHomme Richard Aircraft Carrier in the South Pacific during World War II.
After Naval service, B.Wayne attended Harding University and graduated in 1950, with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He obtained his Master’s degree from Drury College in 1960 and his specialist degree from University of Missouri in 1962.
B. Wayne became an educator serving as Men’s Athletic Coach at Licking High School, Men’s and Women’s Athletic Coach at Weaubleau High School, and Basketball and Baseball Coach at Salem High School.
B. Wayne served as High School Principal at Skyline High School R-1 1957-1959 and Superintendent of Schools for Koshkonong, Fordland, Crocker, Richland, Cole Camp, Seymour and Sparta, all in Missouri.
B.Wayne served many years influencing and educating the lives of many people.
B. Wayne retired from Education after 35 years in 1984.
B. Wayne also worked as an Evangelist for the Church of Christ serving many area Churches during his life. He loved his Lord throughout his life and enjoyed his spiritual part of life.
After retiring from Education, enjoying the fellowship of others, and hobbies of hunting and fishing , B.Wayne decided to further those interests in working for Bass Pro Shops, Inc. in Springfield, MO for 20 years until the age of 80. During his tenure at Bass Pro Shops he was Awarded Associate of the Year in 1997.
After retiring from Education and from Bass Pro Shops, B. Wayne spent the rest of his life retired at home with his wife Betty Sue and the rest of his family and enjoyed hunting turkey, deer, quail, and fishing trout and bass, enjoying his passion of St. Louis Cardinal baseball and playing, singing, and listening to Bluegrass music!
Services for B. Wayne will be at 11:30 A.M. Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at Greenlawn Funeral Home East with interment at Missouri Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 TO 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2013 in the funeral home.
