Barbara Gail Hough, 78, of Springfield, MO, departed this life Wednesday, October 20th, 2021. She was born September 25th, 1943 near Celeste, Texas to A.J. and Lucille (Bench) Woodall.

Barbara was saved and became a Christian on October 19th, 1958. After graduating from Greenville Senior High School in 1962 she lived with her grandmother for a time in Greenville, TX. She worked at the local garment factory to save money for college. She then moved to Springfield, MO and began attending Baptist Bible College. While working at a part-time job at the garment factory in Springfield she met her future husband, Gary Hough. They were married March 26th, 1965 and remained together until his passing in 2017.

Her early life was filled with adventure. Barbara and Gary loved the outdoors and spent time together camping, canoeing, fishing and skiing. They longed to start a family and were overjoyed with the arrival of their son Todd and daughter Rebecca. Barbara loved traveling with Gary and their children on many fun and interesting vacations. She also enjoyed gardening, cooking, home improvement and making arts and crafts (especially painting).

Barbara and her family were members of South Haven Baptist Church. She and Gary taught children’s Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. They also led children’s revivals and worked with mission groups.

Barbara worked for many years at Kraft Foods. After retirement she was fond of genealogy and loved researching her family tree. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution with her daughter Rebecca. Later in life she loved spending time with her grandchildren and was a member of the local garden club.

Barbara was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her husband Gary Hough; daughter, Rebecca Hough and an infant son, Stephen Hough; parents, A.J Woodall and Lucille Gentry; and brother Larry Woodall.

Barbara is survived by her son Todd Hough and wife Carrie of St. Louis, MO and five grandchildren – Claire Hough, Jacob Hough, Daniel Hough, Eli Hathcock and Caleb Hathcock.

She is also survived by sisters Dorothy West and husband Tom, Sandra Hale, Brenda Gore and husband Jay and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 23, 2021, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
