Barbara Jean Allcorn was born on February 5, 1933 to Kathleen Monsche Long and Ted Long, in Kansas City, Kansas. She was raised by Kathleen and her step-dad Nordene Wilson, Sr. in Kansas and then the family moved to Springfield, MO. Nordene and Kathleen added four boys to the family: Nordene (Dean), Ron, Larry, and Donnie. Barbara passed to a life in heaven on Saturday August 3rd, while living at Woodland Manor in Springfield, MO. Barbara had three children with Bacil Allcorn, Jessie Sawyer, husband Gary, Michael Allcorn, wife Sandy, and Kathy Melton, husband Bob. Barb wore many hats in her lifetime: farm wife, factory worker, business owner, tax preparer, actual farmer herself, dog transporter and flea market entrepreneur. She never found a flea market or junk store she didn’t love. Her most starring role was mother at a young age to her three children but also grandmother, to five granddaughters and then three grandsons through Kathy’s second marriage. She loved them all and shared much knowledge and wisdom with all, never skimping on her advice to all of them! She was blessed to have traveled to many places, enjoying especially NYC, San Fransico, then Boston, Florida and Cancun to see granddaughter Christy. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Jessie, brothers Dean, and Don (as well as many sisters- in- law, brothers-in law and nieces through Bacil). Barbara is survived by two children, eight grandchildren, eleven great- grands and three great-great grands.
