Barbara Lou Burnett 86 of Springfield Missouri, passed away on May 21, 2024 at Cox South Hospital in Springfield MO after a long battle with Dementia.
Barbara was born on November 19, 1937 to Solomon and Nell Hammons in Moberly, MO. She was the youngest of 4 siblings. Barbara graduated from Moberly High School on May 19, 1955 and entered the workforce working at Southwestern Bell. On February 12, 1961 she married the love of her life Gerald Burnett.
Barbara was a loving wife, mother, maw maw, great grandmother and great great grandmother. She loved her family and friends with her whole heart and would go out of her way to help anyone. She loved to travel with Gerald and they went on many adventures thru the years by car, motorcycle and later wintered in Yuma Arizona where they made even more friends. They loved to fish, play cards and domino’s and visit family whenever possible.
Barbara is survived by her Daughter Brenda (Eric) Prenzel of Ozark MO, Daughter Pamela (Scott) Emery of Atwater, IL, Son Jerry (Janet) Burnett of Springfield MO, Daughter Deborah Oliver of Huntsville MO and Daughter Anita Harris of Rancho Cucamonga CA. As well as 10 grandkids James, Daniell, Misty, Adrian, Shawn, Jennifer, Sabrina, Gayle, Dillon and Cody, 13 Great Grandkids and 19 Great Great Grandkids. As well as numerous nieces, nephews cousins and many great friends.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Gerald Burnett, her parents, her sisters Laveta Schrader and Bertha Dennis, her brother Sol “Jr” Hammons and her Son-in-law Butch Oliver.
Funeral Services and Visitation will be held at Greenlawn Funeral Home East in Springfield Missouri on Tuesday, May 28 at 1:00p.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
