Barbara Stokes, age 79, of Springfield, passed away on August 7th 2026 at Maranatha Village. Barbara was born to William and Arnetta Griffin on October 10th, 1946, in Springfield MO. She was raised in Springfield and was united in marriage to Donald Stokes on August 10th, 1963, in Springfield MO, The couple were blessed with two daughters Susan Wendt and Anna Stokes-Smith.

Barbara was employed as a nurses assistant and laundry aid at Mercy Hospital for 20 plus years. When not working, Barbara loved attending WWE events, Cardinal Baseball games, and shopping. Nothing, however, brought her more joy than spending time with her daughters, grandchildren, great grandchildren and other friends and family. Barbara will be forever remembered as an amazing and loving person who loved her family whole heartedly.

Barbara was preceded in death by husband Donald, parents William and Arnetta, two brothers Darrell and Jerry, three sisters Rose Mary, Marsha, and Billie. She is survived by two daughters Susan (Larry) and Anna (Josh). Six grandchildren Stephanie (Darryl), Johnathan (Hannah), Ayla (Isaiah), Hayden, Jason (Aliyah), Gwen. four great grandchildren Joseph, Isabella, Asher, and Saxton. Two Sisters Janice and Jackie and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation for Barbara will be held on Wednesday, August 12th at 4pm, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North in Springfield. A Funeral service will be held directly after the visitation at 5pm.
