Barney Joe Williams, age 57 of Lamar, passed away August 10, 2012 in Freeman Hospital. He was born June 11, 1955 to Eugene and Lula Lorine Williams in their home in Ava.
Barney graduated from Central High School in Springfield and proudly served his country in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged September 26, 1980. He worked for Zenith until their doors closed and ultimately retired from O’Sullivans after 20 years of service. He was a member of First General Baptist Church. Barney enjoyed photography, painting and being outdoors hunting and fishing. In his spare time he would play his banjo. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Williams. Survivors include his loving mother, Lula Lorine Williams; one sister, Danita Barnes and husband Paul; nieces, Lorri Barnes and Daren Smikle and April Barnes; great nephew, Ashton Barnes; two great nieces, Winter and Ophelia Barnes; numerous other loving relatives and a host of friends.
A celebration of Barney’s life will be held at Smith Park under the pavilion, Saturday, August 18, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Everyone that knew Barney is welcome to come and share a memory.
