Rebecca “Becky” Ann Hawley passed away Friday, April 21, 2023 at home surrounded by family. Becky was born September 18, 1949 in Springfield, MO. She attended Hillcrest High School where she met the love of her life David. They got married February 24, 1968 in Springfield, MO at Central Christian Church; and celebrated 55 years this year. David got drafted and while in the military they lived in CA, GA and were stationed in Fort Leonard Wood, MO where they met lifelong friends Frank and Brenda Hoehn. David and Becky then settled in Springfield, MO and she began working at the Cerebral Palsy Center, then at Delaware School where she retired. She had a heart and compassion for working with developmentally disabled kids.

Becky always had a smile on her face and never met a stranger. She was the kindest person you would ever meet. She had a huge love for Jesus and her family. David and Becky attended Northside Christian Church. With her sister, Nancy, she was involved in Bible Study Fellowship. For several years she and David were part of Camino.

Becky was preceded in death by her parents, Hosea and Phyllis Pfeifer; brother, HC Pfeifer; son, David Hawley Jr; granddaughter, Kelsey Lenox.

She is survived by her husband, David Hawley; daughter Dee (Jammie) Shelton; son, Darren (Misty) Hawley; son, Dennis (Amanda) Hawley; seven grandchildren, Dustin Lenox, Shania Bloom, Montana Tracy, Dennis Hawley Jr, Sterling Hawley, Colter Shelton and Pike Shelton and 11 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Nancy Brown; sisters-in-law Annie Kolb and Pam Pfeifer; nieces Emily Buff, Ashley Sharp, and Rachel Pfeifer and nephew Andy Pfeifer and four great nephews and nieces.

A Celebration of Life for Becky will be at 11:00 am Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at Greenlawn Funeral Home East. Vistation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Tuesday, April 25, 2023 in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Services will be Livestreamed on Zoom. Out of respect for the family please turn the aduio and video off on your devices.

Words are never enough. Prayers for you all. She was such a sweet person.

I was so saddened to hear of Becky's passing. My prayers go out to David, Dee, Darin, Dennis and all their family members. Becky was the sweetest , kindest, and caring person I have ever known. She loved Jesus and was the greatest friend I've ever had. The years we had the Hawley's as neighbors were wonderful years. Becky will be missed but we know that she is with Jesus, and there is no better place to be.

I met Becky initially though BSF. Then was so excited to see her at Northside! So sorry for your family’s loss. She is with Jesus now and no more pain. She will be greatly missed.

Becky radiated the love of Christ. She had a special glow about her and always brightened the room with her compassion for others. When I was young and crazy and everyone knew it she still showed God's love and compassion and I will always remember that. Praying for David, all of the children and grandchildren and friends and extended family.

Becky and I grew up together at Central Christian Church. She was always so sweet, cheerful and positive. Wonderful qualities. She will be missed. My best to her family.

Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

I had the pleasure of teaching two if her children at Fair Grove. I enjoyed talking with her and her husband. They were great parents to get to know and I know God has gained an angel. I worked several years with Becky at the Ozark Empire Fair. She is one of the sweetest, kindest people I have ever known. God’s love and compassion for others shone brightly in her lovely face. Everyone who knew her at the fair loved her. My thoughts and prayers are with Becky’s family. I pray for peace and comfort for them. Until we meet again, Becky! Sincerely, Loree Quinn

Becky was part of my sons life when he attended Delaware elementary school. Becky was always smiling and had a kind heart with my son and his disabilities. Her care and kindness will always be remembered. Thank you Becky. Rest in peace.

I met Becky at Camino many many years ago. To meet her was to love her. She had such a sweet spirit that poured our effortlessly and she sprinkled it around like fairy dust, making everyone around happier. The world needs more people like Becky & David. We often teased we were cousins, since my maiden name was also Hawley. The world lost a saint, and Heaven gained one. I look forward to seeing her again!

My heart hurts for the loss of such a beautiful soul. She was like a second mother. I enjoyed working Camino with her several times. - you are loved and will be missed

So sorry to hear this news. I always felt that Becky and I had a special friendship since we had the same first name. She was the sweetest lady and I know everyone will miss her. Sending love and prayers for all the family. Will be looking fondly to the day I see her in heaven. May God give you comfort and peace.
