Bertha Dean Emberton, 93 years old, passed away October 26, 2018 at Brookhaven Nursing & Rehab in Springfield, MO. She was born June 14, 1925 at Turners, MO to Reverend Ralph and Eva Turner. She graduated from Rogersville High School and also attended Draughon Business College. Bertha married E.B. “Bob” Allen in 1943 and they had one daughter, Barbara. Her second marriage was to Tim Emberton, who also preceded her in death.
Bertha held several jobs over the years, but she was most proud of her time at Vincel Buick. She often shared fond memories of the employees there, whom she considered her friends.
Bertha took pride in having grown up in Turners, MO and loved spending time at Turners Station. She loved being associated with the Turners community.
Bertha and her husband, Tim, were charter members of Wesley Methodist Church. After Tim’s death, she attended and later joined South Haven Baptist Church, where her daughter, son-in-law, and grandsons’ families were members.
Bertha was preceded in death by her husband Tim Emberton and her first husband, E.B. “Bob” Allen; parents Ralph and Eva Turner; a brother, George A. Turner and a sister, Geraldine Carroll. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara and husband Bob Scott; grandsons Jerry Scott (Vicky), Brian Scott (Tyrena), and Jay Scott (Angela); a sister, Nettie Prine; seven great grandchildren and one great, great granddaughter.
Bertha will be fondly remembered for her selfless love for her family and her willingness to help whenever needed, especially with her great grandchildren. She loved tiny dogs, cruise ships, potpourri, and cookies. We already miss her and look forward to the time we join her in rejoicing around the throne.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Brookhaven Nursing & Rehab Facility for their special care of Bertha. We also wish to extend a special thanks to Regional Hospice for their compassion during this difficult time.
