Bertha Mahalia McIntosh, age 95, of Springfield, Mo., passed away Tuesday, November 2, 2010, in St. John’s Medical Center. She was born September 7, 1915, in New Plymouth, Idaho, to John and Bessie (Burgin) Detherage. She was an avid quilt maker, and embroidery, she loved to cook, make coconut cream pies, and she loved making homemade yeast rolls and attending church meetings.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Absy Detherage and Bessie Loretta Detherage (nee Burgin); husband, James A.; sister and three brothers.
She is survived by Loretta McLaughlin, Springfield, Mo.; son, Jay and wife Carrie McIntosh, of Ava, Mo.; Wanda and James Phinney, of Rogersville; Diana and Mike Fleck, of Nixa; eight grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; eight great-step grandchildren; four step-great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Elsie Atchison, of Ava, Mo.
Funeral sisters will held at 1 p.m., in Greenlawn Funeral Home North, Saturday, November 6, 2010, with Alvin Hook officiating. Burial will be held in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Springfield, Mo. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., on Friday, November 5, 2010, in Greenlawn Funeral Home North.
