Betty Ann Reynolds Lipscomb was born on August 1, 1933 in Souix City, Iowa to Harry and Martha Reynolds. She lived in Rockwall, Texas from 2016 until she left this life for her eternal home on March 18, 2023.
Betty’s family moved to Pleasant Hope, Missouri when she was a young girl and she graduated from Pleasant Hope High School and married Leland Everett (Lee) Lipscomb, January 8, 1952. Leland and Betty were married for 45 years and had two daughters, Lesha and Marsha.
Betty’s hobbies included gardening, canning and sewing. She was an excellent seamstress and taught sewing and gardening in the local Swadley 4-H club. She was active in the Pleasant Hope PTA and served a term as President. Betty was a member of the Pleasant Hope Fundamental Baptist Church and she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. In 1969, Betty attended the Graff Vocational Technical College to study nursing and graduated a year later to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. Betty loved people, children and animals, especially dogs. She was a loving and devoted Grandmother who enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Leland Lipscomb; her parents, Harry and Martha Reynolds, and her parents-in-law, Luther and Roxie Lipscomb. She was preceded in death by her siblings: her brothers, Frederick Kobold and wife, Marjorie; Francis Reynolds and wife, Joyce; her sister, Dorothy Simmons and husband ,Gus; sisters-in law: Geneva Mae Lipscomb, Blanche McKee, husband, Carl; Betty Sue Gossard and Nancy Kay Lipscomb; brothers-in-law: Adam Bodinski and Jack Meinhart.
Betty is survived by her two daughters: Lesha Lipscomb Skidmore and husband, Clifford, Rockwall, Texas and Marsha Lipscomb Alexander and husband, Sam ,Fair Play, Missouri; sister, Donna Reynolds Bodinski, Ham Lake, Minnesota; sister-in-law, Patty Meinhart, Oxford, Michigan; brother-in-law, John Gossard, Harrisburg, PA. In addition Betty is leaving her five grandchildren and their spouses; thirteen great-grandchildren and their spouses, and three great-great-grandchildren and a host of cherished nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Graveside services will be at Brighton Cemetery in Brighton, Missouri at 10:30 a.m. on March 31, 2023.
