Betty Carolyn (Sipes) Perkins was born on July 13, 1956, in Bolivar, Tennessee, to Althea (Wiggins) and Shelby Sipes. She married Dr. Steven Perkins on August 6, 1977, and together they built a life and family she treasured deeply. Betty was surrounded by her family when she took her final breath on August 30, 2026, at the age of 70, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Brooke Perkins Cinalli and husband, Joe Cinalli; son, Ryan Perkins and wife, Rheagan (Adams) Perkins; beloved grandchildren, McKenna, Isabel, Laityn, Joseph IV (Seph), and Benjamin; and godchildren, Ariah Willoughby Bunn, Adria Willoughby and Kobe Stewart. She is also survived by her husband, Mark Alsup; brothers, Gene Sipes, Ron Sipes and Jim Sipes; sisters-in-law, Charlotte Sipes, Cynthia Sipes, Julie Moore and Wanda (Perkins) Harris; and many nieces and nephews who lovingly called her “Auntie Betty.”

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Steven Perkins; her parents, Althea and Shelby Sipes; brother, Tom Sipes; sister, Sue (Sipes) Whitsitt; father-in-law, Farrel Glenn Perkins; mother-in-law, Doris (Hinsen) Perkins; and brothers-in-law, Keith Perkins and Hank Whitsitt.

Betty grew up in Sunnyvale, California, where she attended Sunnyvale High School. She was a cheerleader and hospital candy striper before graduating and earning her associate degree as a dental assistant. She later worked for Hewlett-Packard in Palo Alto, California.

Betty’s greatest joy was her family, and to Betty, family extended far beyond blood. She had a remarkable way of welcoming people into her life and loving them as her own. She loved big, gave generously and showed up, again and again, for the people she loved. If someone she loved needed her, Betty was there.

She supported her husband, Steve, while he attended chiropractic college in Portland, Oregon, and later helped him build his chiropractic practice in Springfield, Missouri. Through every season of her life, Betty poured herself into the people around her.

She also had a gift for nurturing beautiful things. She loved gardening, growing flowers in her yard, propagating plants and filling her home with life. It was fitting for someone who spent her life nurturing others: under Betty’s care, things grew.

More than anything, Betty will be remembered for the way she loved. Her kindness, generosity and fierce devotion to her family and friends were gifts she gave freely. Her legacy lives on in her children and grandchildren, in the family she chose as her own, in the friendships she treasured and in the countless people who were fortunate enough to be loved by her.

A funeral service for Betty will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at Greenlawn Funeral Home East in Springfield, Missouri. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow the service at Rivermonte Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pregnancy Care Center in Springfield, Missouri.
