Betty “Yvonne” Dowker born May 6, 1929 in Nixa passed away on Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at Jordan Creek Nursing and Rehab at the age of 81.
Yvonne was united in marriage Donald L. Dowker on September 7, 1947 in Springfield and to this union four daughters were born. She was an active member of Central Community of Christ. Yvonne was a homemaker that devoted her life to her children and grandchildren and for several years served as a Dorm Mother at Burge School of Nursing.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, adoptive parents Vol and Edna Bessie (Montgomery) Galbraith and sister Geneva Russell.
Survivors include daughters, Dianne Zweig (John), Lisa Apperson (Michael) all of Springfield, Rhea Kaye Dyer of Leavenworth, KS and Susan Kimberling of Moore, OK; grandchildren Leanna Zweig (Jay Carter), Christa Zweig (Zach Welch), Amber Kimberling, Olivia and Aidan Apperson and one great granddaughter, Zoe Zweig; stepson Robert Dowker and his family; numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
Visitation will be held Sunday, December 19, 2010 from 5-7 pm at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Monday, December 20, 2010, at Greenlawn Funeral Home South. Yvonne will be interred in Missouri Veterans Cemetery.
