Betty Jean Hancock, born 1928, in Springfield, Missouri. She passed away peacefully April 18, 2013. She was proceeded in death by her husband, Wayne Hancock. She is survived by one son, Garland Hancock (Texas), and two daughters, Linda Wilson (Tennessee), Debbra Kurtz-Gato (Texas) (Robert Kurtz); seven grandchildren, Tricia, Michael (Colette), Jason, Kayla (Tommy), Christopher, Matthew, Dustin (Laura); eight great grandchildren, Airiana, Ayden, Allen, Andrew, Josh, James, Bronson, Presley; three granddogs Bugsy, Polo and Rosie.
She was born and raised in Springfield, Missouri where she met her husband Wayne Hancock just after WWII had ended. Shortly after marrying in Springfield, they moved to Oklahoma where he attended The University of Oklahoma, which also began their love for SOONER football. They raised their children in Oklahoma City, and attended Hillcrest Presbyterian Church . In 1967, they moved to Plano, Texas, when Plano had less than 9,000 people. Betty worked for Plano Independent School District for 23 years in Health Services. When the Texas Rangers came to Texas in 1972, she became their biggest fan.
Graveside service will be May 18, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Springfield, Missouri. Anyone wishing to do something for the family can make a donation to the cancer fund, per mother’s wishes.
