Betty Jean Rapp Hein. 86, was born December 14, 1924, in Medford, Ok, the daughter of Ray and Anita (Waldie) Hill. She departed this life November 26, 2011, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Mo, with her loving family at her side.
She graduated from high school in Wakita, Ok in 1942 and attended Oklahoma A&M (Oklahoma State University) majoring in Education. She married Ralph J. Rapp on June 22, 1945. They had three children, Connie, Chuck, and R.D.
Betty enjoyed life to the fullest and was loved by family and friends. She always had a positive outlook on life and greeted everyone with a smile. Her great passions were dancing, singing, and entertaining. She was always whistling a happy song while working and cooking.
She retired from ALCO and moved with her husband, Ralph, to Cape Fair, Mo. During retirement she worked seven years at Silver Dollar City in Branson, Mo. Ralph passed away in 1987 and she married C.E. Hein in 1990. Betty was a lifetime member of the American Legion and member of the United Methodist Church of Kimberling City.
Betty is survived by son Chuck Rapp, Salina, Ks, and daughter Connie Gabbert, Cape Fair, Mo, sisters Wanda McCormack and Beverly Ernest, four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Ralph and C.E., son R.D., and a brother Don Hill.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 30, 2011, at United Methodist Church of Kimberling City, with visitation from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. prior to the service. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, December 1, 2011, at Larned Cemetery, Larned, Ks, under the direction of Greenlawn Funeral Home South.
