Betty Joan Holwell, age 86, of Springfield, Missouri went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 10, 2024, in Maranatha Village.

She was born on July 31, 1937, in Chadron, Nebraska to Howard and Ada Wineteer.

Betty Jo was united in Marriage to the love of her life, Jack Frederick Holwell, on May 28, 1959, in Newcastle, Wyoming.  From this union, two daughters, Shelly and Jacque were born.

Betty Jo owned and operated The Betty Joan Beauty Shop for 16 years. Changing careers, she then went on to attend Black Hills State University, graduating in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science in Education, with a double Minor and Major in Education, Art, and Special Education K-12. Many years she enjoyed teaching Art and Special Education in the Weston County School District, Newcastle, Wyoming.  While teaching, she continued her education by attending Chadron State College, earning her Master of Science in Education degree in 1991 and then retiring in 1994.

Betty Jo found peace being outdoors amongst the Lord’s creations.  A big enjoyment of hers was tending to her garden and sharing the produce with family and friends each summer.  Her family enjoyed camping, boating, motorcycling, snowmobiling and horseback trail rides in the Black Hills.  After retiring, Betty Jo and Jack enjoyed taking drives so she could enjoy taking photos.  She enjoyed drawing and painting from her photos, along with framing her beautiful photography.  A big honor of hers was having a photo she had taken of her red rose bush she had grown, displayed in the Colonial Penn Calendar in 1996, in the month of June. She spent the next 10 years after retiring, judging area shows in different states for Photography and Fine Arts.

Betty Jo and Jack moved to Marshfield, Missouri in 2012.

Betty Jo was a woman of faith, walking with the Lord each day. She was a member of Marshfield First Baptist Church, Marshfield, Missouri.  She instilled in her daughters and grandchildren the importance of being saved and reading their Bible.  She prayed daily for her family and others.

Betty Jo was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, of 64 years, her parents, two brothers, Curtis and Robert Wineteer and her sister, Xenile Nixon.

She is survived by her two daughters, Shelly Dean (Vaughn Peterson) of Newcastle, WY, and Jacque Williams (Joe) of Strafford, MO. Grandchildren:  Jason (Erin) Dean, Leah (Mike) Starling, Colt (Jennifer) Williams, Justin Dean (Kelsey Iverson), Casey (Haley) Williams and Josh (Logan) Williams.

Great Grandchildren:  Kaylee Williams, Izzabell Williams, Kayden Williams, Natalie Dean, Hanna Starling, Deegan Williams, Anna Dean, Ella Dean, Ada Dean, Jack Dean, Ada Williams, Olive Williams, Truman Williams and Cleo Williams.

She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Joan Holwell and numerous family and friends.

The family will celebrate the life of Betty Jo and Jack with graveside services at Greenwood Cemetery in Newcastle, Wyoming at a later date.
