Betty L. Ritenour, 101, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away on September 8, 2026.
She was born on March 25, 1925, to Nuel and Minnie (Schmidt) Ritenour.
She completed nearly 40 years as a Department of the Air Force employee in various parts of the world – Ft. Leonard Wood, MO; Colorado Springs, CO; March AFB, Riverside, CA; JUSMMAT, Ankara, Turkey; HQ USAFE, Wiesbaden, Germany, and Scott AFB, IL.
During retirement, she supported and worked in various charitable projects usually related to church activities. With family and friends, she did a good deal of traveling in and out of the US.
Never married, Betty is survived by her nieces, Karen Walker of Springfield, and Diane Walker Holzum of Jackson, MO; great nieces: Nichole Holzum, and Caitlin (Vince) Mantia; and a great-great niece, Gabriella Mantia.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Ruth, and her brother Dean.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 14, 2026 at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Springfield, Missouri.
The family request memorials be made to Pathways United Methodist Church.
