Betty M. Cooper of Golden, Missouri passed May 25, 2017 peacefully at home in Golden Mo. She was born Oct. 3, 1924 in Everton Arkansas the daughter of Robert Lee and Essie Fay Snow. She was the oldest of nine children.
She is survived by three sisters, Mary Joe Wilmoth of Shingle Springs California, Syble Markle of Aurora, Missouri, and Shirley Laffoon of Springfield, Missouri; two sons Gary W. Cooper of Golden Missouri and Charles D. Cooper of Shingle Springs California; two Grandchildren, Lauronda D. Cooper of Oakland California and Clayton D. Cooper of Anchorage Alaska; and one great-granddaughter, Maya Sophia Cooper.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Charles Ray Cooper (waiting in Heaven for her since March 24, 2013). Betty is also joining four brothers and one sister in Heaven.
She was a member of the Golden Baptist Church in Golden Missouri for the last 20 years where she sang in the church choir.
Betty was an avid gardener and loved working in her yard tending flower beds and vegetable rows. Throughout the spring and summer months you would often find her in her yard, water hose in hand, plucking stray weeds, and planning what flowers or fruit trees she would soon plant in the yard. Betty liked to stay busy, early in her life she was a member of Beta Signa Phi, she was also a talented seamstress and often created outfits for her grandchildren when they were young. With her farming upbringing Betty was naturally an enthusiastic canner and preserved most of her fruit tree and vegetable garden harvests.
Throughout the 1960’s and 70’s Betty worked as an apartment manager, managing up to 100 unit apartment buildings. But she also found time to bake birthday cakes and summer pies for family and friends.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, June 2, 2017 at the Holder Chapel in Western Grove, Arkansas with burial to follow in the Western Grove Cemetery. A visitation will be held an hour prior to service time. Arrangements are under the direction of Greenlawn Funeral Home Branson.
