Betty Rosetta (Saltkill) Stone was born on March 29, 1929 in Springfield, MO, one of ten children of Bert and Pearl (King) Saltkill. Rosetta married Freddie Stone on November 15, 1947 and together they had two sons, Bert and Jay. Rosetta was preceded in death by her parents Bert and Pearl; her loving husband of 64 years, Fred and infant son Jay. She was also preceded in death by her brothers and sisters; John Saltkill, Bill Saltkill, Helen Maples, Herbert Saltkill, Bonnie Coffer, Cora Jean Cantrell, Edna Gooch, Barbara Johnson and Clyde Saltkill.
She is survived by her son and daughter in law Bert and Donnis Stone; grandson and wife, Mike and Ella Stone; granddaughter and husband, Michelle and Jason Brooks; great-grandchildren, Tara and husband Jaxon Joy, Katie Brooks and Kyle Stone; great, great grandchildren Josie and Brooks Joy. She is also survived by her best friend and “sister” Louise King, an adopted “granddaughter” Kristina Brown, and her children Mikaela and Andrew; her many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.
Rosetta cherished her family and grandchildren deeply. She enjoyed playing dominos with Louise, a tradition that was started before the passing of her beloved Fred. On occasion, other family members would sometimes join them. Rosetta will be remembered for her many pies she made every holiday and her family’s favorite, chicken and dumplings. She will forever be missed.
The family would like to thank everyone at Republic Nursing & Rehab and Preferred Hospice for the wonderful care they provided to Rosetta. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that monetary donations be made in Rosetta’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Missouri, Springfield Office: 901 E St. Louis St, Ste 702, Springfield, MO 65806.
