With heavy hearts and profound love, we announce the passing of our beautiful, beloved mother, Beverly (Bev) Kerber, 74, who peacefully left us on May 16, 2026 after a courageous 8-month battle against ovarian cancer. Born Beverly Faye Shapiro on April 8, 1952 in Joplin, Missouri to the late Evelyn and Sam Shapiro.
Beverly was an avid bowler forming many long-lasting friendships in the leagues she was a part of. While on the lanes she would meet the love of her life Dennis Kerber. She enjoyed shopping, getting her hair and nails done, and making an occasional trip to the casinos in Oklahoma. Out and about you would always see Beverly wearing her favorite color blue. Growing up, she was a fan of the Beatles but would develop a passion for country music. She loved musicals and knew all the words to the songs in Fiddler on the Roof and Oklahoma! Beverly loved animals and always had a cat or dog on her lap or by her side. Her beloved rat terrier, Niki, will always be remembered. Her friends meant the world to her, and she greatly appreciated their support while battling cancer. The family would like to thank Dr. Hernadez and the staff at Mercy for their dedicated care in her last months. She will be deeply missed for her warmth, her unwavering strength, and the endless love she gave to her family.
She is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 16 years Dennis Kerber, her daughter Cassi Locke and her husband Joshua, and her son Michael Hilton and his wife Danielle. She was predeceased by her parents Evelyn and Sam Shaprio and brother David Shapiro.
Services will be held at Veterans Cemetery, 5201 S. Southwood Rd., Springfield, MO on May 21st at 10 AM. Beverly loved the color blue. We kindly request that attendees wear something blue in her memory.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to GYN Cancers Alliance, 3039 S. Fort Ave., Ste. A, Springfield, MO 65807.
