Beverly J, Reid, “Bevy Jane”, 74, left this earth to go dance on the moon, Saturday, January 9, 2016. She fought a ferocious cancer battle with dignity and perseverance.
Bevy Jane resided in Springfield, Missouri for most of her adult life. She was born and raised in Ava, Missouri.
Bevy Jane was born to Bonnie Reid (Cantwell) and Russell Reid, August 18, 1941. She was the second oldest of eight siblings. Her ties to the Ozarks and family helped shape her heart and direction in life.
Bevy Jane graduated from Ava High School, in 1957. She then graduated in the 90’s with a Bachelor of Science from MSU. During that time, she discovered a love for creative writing. Her thoughts and imagination came to life, as she flourished word-smithing poetry and short stories. Her liaison to the Springfield Writing Group brought many great friendships to her life. Finding beautiful things and building beautiful environments also was another source of joy for Bevy Jane.
She worked in Business Collections for most of her life, retiring from Cox Health Systems. She served a short stint in the Peace Corp during her 50’s, fulfilling a life-long dream.
She left a huge circle of friends and family who will miss her greatly. She is survived by her only child, Rhana Castle and husband, Charlie Castle of Pleasant Hill, Mo.; Brother Lonnie Reid of Fairfield, Ca.; Brother Jim Reid, Des Peres, Mo.; Brother Randy Reid, Hilton Head, SC; Sister Kathy Reid, Palmyra, Va.; Brother Kirk Reid, Hilton Head, SC.
Please join the family in celebrating Bevy Jane’s life, January 23, 2016, from 1-4 pm. A warm and fun celebration will be hosted at 319 Downtown Event Center (319downtown.com), 319 W. Walnut Street, Springfield, MO 65806, in downtown Springfield. Delicious hors d’oeuvres, tea, coffee and drinks will be served. A video and Bevy’s poetry will be shared, starting at 1:30 pm. All friends from near and far are welcome to come.
