Bill Douglas Franklin
Bill Douglas “Doug” Franklin passed away in his home on November 8, 2009. He was born January 1, 1954, in Springfield. Doug was a proud member of Local 20 roofers and business agent for 20 years. On May 21, 1982, he was united in marriage to Teresa (Hicks). Doug enjoyed hunting, motorcycle riding, fishing, and hanging out with family and friends. His happiest times were spent with his baby girl, his daughter, Jill, and his best buddy and son, Cody. Doug was always the first to lend a helping hand for his friends and neighbors. He was preceded in death by his father, Billy Joe Franklin; and brother Lary Ray. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Teresa Franklin; his mother and step-father, Retha and Scott Norman; children, Jill and Clint of Springfield, and Cody and Meleah of Morrisville; three beautiful granddaughters, Whitney, Kennady and Jenna; brother Randy Shultz of Springfield; sister Cheri Sue and husband, Jack of Nixa; and too many nieces and nephews to name. Special thanks to his Union brothers and sisters, Local #20, Local #36, Local #203, Local #1786, and Local #178, Ozarks Coca-Cola, Rhonda, Doug, Tom, June, Kenny, Dewayne, Wayne, Seasons Hospice, and many more that helped him and his family. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, November 12, 2009, in Greenlawn Funeral Home East. He will be missed by all of his family and friends.
