Mr. Billie Dee Lightfoot died on Tuesday afternoon, July 2nd, 2013 at Citizens Memorial Health Care Facility. He was born on August 15th, 1931 near what is now Lightfoot Park at Pomme de Terre Lake near Elkton, Missouri. His parents were Melvin and Dulcie Street Lightfoot.
On October 17th, 1948 he married Wanda V. Lipe and they enjoyed 64 years of marriage. Billie Dee was saved when he was 12 years old at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church at Adonis. He enjoyed attending church as long as his health permitted. He was a member of Southside Missionary Baptist Church in Bolivar, at the time of his death.
He retired from Southwest Electric Co-op in Bolivar in 1992 after 28 years.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a sister Imogene Fisher and brother-in-law Harold Fisher and a step granddaughter Destry. Other brother-in-laws preceding him in death were; Keith Collins, William P. Lipe, and Durward Walker.
Survivors include his wife Wanda V. Of the home; three sons; Gayland Lightfoot and his wife Marcelene of Bolivar; Garland Lightfoot and his wife Leasa of Brighton; and Mendel Lightfoot and his wife Sylvia of Republic. Also surviving are seven grand children and seven great grand children ,as well as several nieces and nephews, along with many other loved ones and friends. Other survivors include sisters-in-law, Ada Lee Walker and Delores Collins Wierman and brother-in-law, Ron Wierman, along with brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Don and Lena Lipe as well as brother-in-law, Ron Lipe.
Brother Efton Piper will officiate the service on Saturday , July 6 at Pitts Chapel in Bolivar, MO., at 10:00 AM, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday, July 5 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM in the Chapel. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the building fund at Southside Missionary Baptist Church.
