Billy Eugene Sloan, 86, of Nixa, left this life to meet our Lord, Savior and Creator on April 29, 2013. Billy was born to Opal and Wilbert Sloan on March 14, 1927 in Swedeborg, Missouri, the oldest of ten children.
He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II. Bill married Ada Gill on September 20, 1947 in Springfield, Missouri. Bill worked for many years in the lumber industry, as a Saw Operator for a saw mill.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Sloan; his parents, Wilbert and Opal Sloan; one brother, Paul Sloan; and two sisters, Nadine and Doris Sloan.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ada Sloan; two sons, Mark Sloan and wife Patricia of Nixa and Dr. Dennis Sloan of Springfield; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; four brothers, Kenneth, Jimmy Lee, Harry, and Jerry Sloan; three sisters, Betty Mitchell, Pauline Kirk, and Isabell Hegi; and a host of friends and family.
A celebration of Bill’s life will be at 1:00 p.m., May 2, 2013, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North, with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m., May 1, 2013 in the funeral home.
