Billy Gene Newlon, 91, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away Friday, November 30, 2019 at Mercy Hospital. Billy was born on Monday, May 14, 1928 in Monett, Missouri to Harry and Susie Newlon.
Billy was a graduate of Central High School and Missouri College. After high school he served in the United States Marine Corps, a career from which he retired. When he returned home, he worked and retired from the Greene County Library.
He was united in marriage to Reba Sue Norton on August 15, 1955. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, hunting, hiking, camping, archery, whittling, sketching, and reading.
Billy is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Reba Sue, his son, Harry Gene Newlon, and siblings: J.D., Louis, Mattie Ruth, and Ruby. He is survived by 5 children, 10 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Billy will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 4, 2019. Funeral services for Billy will be on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with military honors following at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
