It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Billy Joe Inman, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who left this world on August 2, 2026, at the age of 89. Born on January 16, 1937, in Sparta, Missouri, Billy lived a life full of passion, dedication, and love for his family.

A respected salesman in the plumbing and heating supply industry, Billy dedicated many years to Southern Materials, where his hard work and genuine spirit made a lasting impression on colleagues and customers alike. His commitment to his profession was matched only by his devotion to his family.

He is survived by his cherished wife, Othena Inman; his beloved daughter, Kim Carsten and husband Gayle Carsten; and his son, Bryan Inman and wife Cindy Inman. Billy took great pride in his grandchildren: Myndi Swain (Husband Les), Ashley Dorman (Husband Ron), Billie Carsten (Austin Barnett), Baker Inman (Wife Cheyenne), and Chandler Lester (Husband Eric). He was also blessed with numerous great-grandchildren, who brought him endless joy: Kolbie Dorman (Wife Lex), Taylor Swain (Jeremy Castillo), Rori Dorman (Fiancé Jared Hendrix), Tripp Swain (Fiancé Emma Reinelt), Ethan Dorman (Layne Forgey), Levi Dorman (Madeline Nalley), Raylee Dorman, Jackson Lester, Aliyah Lester, Thea Pinkerton, and Ronin Jones, along with one great-great grandchild, Kollyns Dorman; along with a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews; and many friends. Billy was preceded in death by his parents Burnice and Velma Inman; siblings, Helen Fortner, Bobby Inman, Juanita Goodman and twin daughters, Lesa and  Lesha Inman.

Billy was a proud Army veteran, having served from November 29, 1955, to September 25, 1957, achieving the rank of SP3. His military service instilled in him a sense of camaraderie and pride that he carried throughout his life.

A lover of the outdoors, Billy found joy in riding motorcycles and horses, as well as spending time camping. He was an avid sports fan, passionately supporting the Lady Bears basketball team, the Indiana Fever, and Alabama football. His faith was central to his life, as he was a devoted member of the Rogersville Church of Christ, where he shared his kindness and wisdom with those around him. Additionally, he operated a cattle farm, an endeavor that reflected his strong connection to the land and farming community.

A visitation will be held at Greenlawn Funeral Home and Life Tribute Center in Ozark, Missouri, on August 6, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, where family and friends will gather to celebrate Billy’s remarkable life. The Celebration of Life will follow at 1:00 PM, allowing all who knew him to remember the joy and warmth he brought into their lives. Billy will be laid to rest at Sparta Cemetery on August 6 at 2:30 PM, a final farewell to a man who cherished his family and community.

Billy Joe Inman will be remembered for his unwavering love, generous spirit, and the countless lives he touched throughout his journey. May his spirit live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
