Billy Richard Redman, 88, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, September 20, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Bill was born on February 28, 1938, in Osceola, Iowa, to Harry P. and Florence E. Redman. He was the eldest of four brothers. Bill grew up on the family farm in Van Wert, Iowa where they road their horses to a one room country school house. In fourth grade the family moved to Leon and then Mitchellville Iowa when he was in the fifth grade.

From an early age, Bill had a great love for animals of all kinds and especially enjoyed riding horses. He was a caring older brother who was always looking out for his siblings. Bill was known for his infectious smile, wonderful sense of humor, and remarkable ability to connect with people from all walks of life.

Bill met Kathryn Craig in the fifth grade. They began dating in the eleventh grade and were united in marriage on June 27, 1959. They shared 67 years of marriage and built a loving home centered on their faith in Jesus Christ. Bill and Kathryn were a devoted team whose love for one another and their family was an inspiration to all who knew them.

Bill graduated with a bachelor’s degree in animal science at Iowa State University. He later attended auctioneering school in Billings, Montana. Throughout his working life, Bill was known for his strong work ethic, high standards, and unwavering integrity. He worked for Hormel, Land O’Lakes, and Spencer Foods as a cattle buyer. He then built a successful feeder pig business (where he put his auctioneering skills to use) and Wisner Commodities in Wisner NE.

For his final career he and Kathryn owned and operated a Merry Maids franchise in Springfield, Missouri. They worked side by side in that business until Bill was finally forced into retirement during the COVID-19 pandemic at the age of 82.

Bill and Kathryn enjoyed many adventures together, traveling throughout the United States and around the world. Their years together were filled with family, faith, hard work, laughter, and wonderful memories.

Bill greatly loved the Lord and his family. He will be remembered for his integrity, curiosity, determination, generosity, and good humor. He had a way of making people feel welcome and valued, and his smile could brighten any room. For Bill, it was always a beautiful day.

Bill was preceded in death by his brother, Harry “Porky” Redman, and his parents, Harry P. and Florence E. Redman.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 67 years, Kathryn; three daughters, Sara Briner, Elyn Nicholson, and Leah Redman; three grandchildren, Lane Nicholson, Trey Nicholson, and Owen Briner; and two great-grandchildren, Hadän and Bodie Nicholson.

Bill will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of faith, love, integrity, curiosity, hard work, and devotion to his family will live on in the generations who follow.

A family directed Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Kings Way United Methodist Church.
