Bob Arterberry, 77, went to be with his Lord on June 30, 2009 in Cox Hospital South of complications from leukemia and pneumonia. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Mary (Essick) Arterberry; a sister, Elmeda; a brother, Jim; a brother-in-law, Richard Johnson; and his first wife, Billie Ruth (Johnson) Arterberry. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Vicki; daughter, Debi and Andy Augustine; sons, Michael and Mark; grandsons, Shaun Augustine, Caleb and Logan Arterberry; and one great-grandson Andrew Augustine. Also surviving are three sisters, Jodie and Bill Revis, Eileen Johnson, Norma and Chuck Benford; and a brother, Jerry and Doris Arterberry. His aunt, Maxine Essick Baird survives, as does many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Bob was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church serving as a door greeter for 20 years. He served his country in the Navy on the USS Rochester during the Korean War from January 1952 through December 1955. Bob was a Barber by profession and later retired from Foremost Dairy in 1986. He was a member of Friend Lodge AF and AM #352 and was a Shriner. He served as Post Commander at American Legion of Nixa and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars. As a resident of Nixa for over 54 years, Bob has served on the Nixa City Council, Park Board, Road District and Fire Protection District. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Greenlawn South. Visitation is Thursday evening, July 2 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Greenlawn South. Graveside services with military honors are Friday, July 3, at 10:30 a.m. in Highlandville Cemetery with Tommy Bilyeu officiating. Memorials are suggested to be made to the Childrens Miracle Network c/o Cox South or The Jane Pitt Pediatric Cancer Center for St. Judes c/o St. John’s is appreciated.
