Bobby “Dean” Moore, 81 of Springfield, went home to be with the Lord on February 3, 2015, after a brave battle with cancer. Dean was born June 8, 1933 to Guy and Georgia (Vinyard) Moore, who preceded him in death. Dean accepted the Lord at the age of 11 and was baptized in Webster County, Missouri. Dean was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was a member of Solomon Lodge 271 of Springfield, a 32nd degree Scottish Rite member Valley of Joplin and a Shriner with the AbouBenAdhemTemple where he was a member of the Hospital Dads. He was a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) for sixty one years. Dean worked for City Utilities of Springfield before becoming Business Agent for L.U. 1474 IBEW in Joplin. Then he moved back to Springfield to become Business Agent for L.U. 753 IBEW where he retired. Dean was preceded in death by a daughter, Sherry; his wife, Retha; and nine siblings: Thurman Moore, Guy Moore Jr., Yvonne Choate, Joe Moore, Paul Moore, Tommy Moore, Jerry Moore, Gary Moore and Nancy Moore. Dean and Retha were blessed with and are survived by six children, Darlene Gideon, Jacque Garten, Elston Moore, Darren Moore, all of Springfield, Regina Logue of Sarcoxie, Jan Miller of Artesia, N.M.,; close family friend and Dean’s caregiver, Angela Reyes; six grandchildren, Erin Martin of Springfield, Nathan Garten of Columbia, Jeremy and Daniel Garten both of Springfield, Robert Logue of Sarcoxie and Chelsey Moore of Springfield; two great-grandchildren, Lucie and Olivia Garten of Columbia; four siblings, Helena Clines of Republic, Dwight Moore of Bois D’Arc, Angie Bennett of Springfield and Ralph Moore of Branson. Dean also leaves behind his loving friend and companion of five years, Shirley Knight; aunt, Betty Herman; many nieces, nephews and cousins; a host of friends and his Masonic family. Arrangements are being handled by Greenlawn Funeral Home East. Visitation will be on Monday, February 9, from 5 to 8 p.m. with Masonic rites at approximately 7:30 p.m. Services will be on Tuesday, February 10 at 1 to 2 p.m. Graveside services with full military honors will be at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens following the service. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Abou Ben Adhem Shrine Hospital Dads Transportation Fund.
