It is with heavy hearts and fond memories that we announce the passing of Bonita Kay Patterson, beloved wife, mother, avid volunteer, and cherished homemaker, who left us on July 7, 2026. Bonita, a lifelong resident of Springfield, MO, was born on March 29, 1942, and spent her 84 years filling her life with experiences, laughter, and the love of her family.
Bonita’s spirit shone brightly in everything she did. From the crack of a bowling ball hitting the pins to the rhythmic hum of her sewing machine, she embraced her hobbies with passion. She traveled to all 50 states, collecting memories and specifically plates from each adventure. Her love for sports, whether it was cheering on her favorite race horse, NASCAR driver or watching the excitement of bull riding, brought her joy. Bonita’s zest for life was infectious, and her remarkable ability to find joy in the simple pleasures inspired everyone around her.
Bonita is survived by her loving daughters, Shana Kay (Jeff) Plaster and their son Jacob Ward Plaster and fiancé Summer Laux. Alana Ray (Mike) Neale, their son Alex Ray Neale and fiancé Teanna Moeller; as well as their daughter Megan Shay Neale and boyfriend Timothy Palmer. She also leaves behind a close-knit family that will carry her spirit of adventure and positivity forward. She is preceded in death by her devoted husband Ward Patterson whose memory she cherished deeply, her loving parents Bill and Romalda Davenport and two sisters Donna Todd and Shawn Davenport.
Visitation will be held at Greenlawn Funeral Home North Friday 7/10/2026 from 12-2 pm and the graveside service to follow will be at 3pm at Spring Hill Cemetery in Rogersville, MO. We invite all who knew her to join in honoring a truly remarkable woman.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Sparta Christian Church, PO BOX 172 Sparta, Missouri 65753 , to continue Bonita’s legacy of love and faith.
As we remember Bonita, let us find peace in the words of Philippians 4:7: “And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds through Christ Jesus.”
