Boyd Walton Sallee of Fair Grove, MO, born January 27, 1936, passed away on October 27, 2012 in the Methodist Manor in Marionville, MO, with his loving family by his side. Boyd was born in Elkland, MO to Paul F. and Ola M. Sallee who preceded him in death. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Dennis and Oral Sallee, and is survived by a brother, Jerry Sallee, and a sister, Karren Johnson.
Boyd was married to his beloved wife, Shirley, on September 19, 1957. They celebrated 54 years of marriage prior to Shirley’s passing in November 2011. They had four children, with their son, Donald W. Sallee, preceding them in death. The surviving children are Mike Sallee of Fair Grove, Dave Sallee and wife Lori of Fair Grove, and Debbie Sallee Hughes and husband Danny of Marionville. Boyd is survived by seven grandchildren, Michael Sallee of New York, NY, Amy Sallee of San Bernardino, CA, Blake and Clay Sallee of Fair Grove, Jennifer White of Leesville, LA, Chris and Derick Cook of Marionville; and two great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Dominic White of Leesville, LA.
Boyd was employed with U.S. Postal Service in Springfield, MO over 30 years prior to his retirement. After retirement, Boyd and Shirley enjoyed living in their home he built in Fair Grove, MO, as well as extensive traveling. They enjoyed cruises and were able to accomplish their goal of traveling to all a 50 states. Boyd loved and cherished his family and was always happiest when they gathered together in the family home. He also enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, being outdoors, woodworking and Cardinals baseball.
Boyd touched many lives in his 76 years on earth, and always left an impression of the kind and caring man he was. He had an entertaining sense of humor and was always ready with a joke in every situation. He was an intelligent and wise man who could always be counted on to lovingly share that wisdom with his family. He was cherished and adored by his family and will be greatly missed; yet he will always remain with us in spirit and memory.
Services are under the direction of Greenlawn Funeral Home North in Springfield, MO. Visitation will be from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 31, 2012, with graveside service at 3:00 p.m., officiated by Reverend Reford Bagley in Hazelwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dave Sallee, Blake Sallee, Clay Sallee Danny Hughes, Chris Cook and Derick Cook.
