Bruce Allen Wilson was born on December 20, 1952 in Rolla, Missouri to Lela and Raymond Wilson. He died on Sunday, June 5, 2022 at Glendale Gardens Nursing Home in Springfield following a brief illness.
He is preceded in death by his parents Lela and Raymond Wilson, his wife Sharon Kay Wilson (nee Stamps), and his sister Raynette Menzie (Bryan). He is survived by his brothers Mark and Kent. Bruce is also survived by many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and friends. As a teen and young adult, Bruce rode his bike everywhere and was the master of the bus route. He was a very social fellow and often cultivated friendships with others in the group homes where he lived. He took every opportunity to attend church and was a good Christian man.
As a husband and son, Bruce was loyal and steadfast. As his wife Sharon’s health declined, he made every effort to visit her often at the facilities where she lived. He often spoke of her with affection following her passing. Likewise, Bruce made frequent visits to his mother, taking the bus to Springfield to spend time with her at the Glendale Gardens nursing home.
Bruce enjoyed working and held a variety of jobs throughout his life. If he did not have a job, he was looking for one. He was devoted to his brothers, and after getting his first cell phone, family and friends could expect calls from Bruce on a daily basis. He was an avid Cardinals fan and tried to never miss a game on TV. Bruce was a man of great enthusiasm. He enjoyed several vacations to visit his brother Kent in Hawaii, anticipating the trips for months in advance. Likewise, he looked forward to seeing family and friends when they came to visit him. Usually visits included trips to restaurants where Bruce always enjoyed a steak. As Bruce’s health declined, he began to suffer frequent falls and was no longer able to attend church. In Spring of 2022, he was transferred to the Glendale Gardens nursing home where his mother Lela had lived for several years. He was able to enjoy the music and bingo games for a short time but soon began to suffer profound fatigue. When he stopped making phone calls and lost his appetite for pie, his decline was swift. Bruce never met a stranger will be remembered by all who loved him as determined, engaging, helpful,
generous, and kind.
