Bruce D. Chrisope, age 73, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away peacefully at home on April 28, 2023 following a brief illness.
Bruce was born in St. Louis, Missouri, to Irl and Dorothy Chrisope, and grew up in the St. Louis area with his brothers Terry and Doug. After graduation from Hazelwood High School, Bruce attended Southwest Missouri State College (now Missouri State University) earning a business degree in 1971. While there he pledged Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity and eventually became president of the chapter. Sig Tau memories and friendships lasted his entire life.
In his senior year Bruce met his wife, Pat, whom he married a year later in 1972. That love and marriage of 51 years also lasted his entire life, and produced two cherished sons, Bret and Michael.
Following college Bruce served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army at Fort Riley, Kansas from 1971-73. After an honorable discharge he returned to SMS and completed an MBA in 1975.
Bruce started his career in sales with Procter & Gamble and later became a financial advisor. He retired from Morgan Stanley Wealth Management in 2009. Bruce loved working in financial services and greatly valued his friendships with co-workers and clients. He also gave back to his community by serving on the Boards of Springfield Public Schools and Springfield-Greene County Library.
An avid outdoorsman, Bruce loved boating, hunting and golf. Many of his fondest memories, shared by his family and friends, were summers at Table Rock Lake. Great times were also had hunting at the farm and at the camp with his sons, his cousin and the “city boys”. As a golfer he enjoyed annual golfing trips with friends and was a regular at Rivercut, where he shot a hole-in-one in 2019.
Bruce is survived by his beloved wife Pat of Springfield, two sons Bret (Sunjung) of Washington, D.C. and Michael (Lacee) of Springfield, brothers Terry (Linda) and Doug, granddaughter Cecily, stepmother Eileen, and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
Bruce enjoyed life and lived every day with optimism and strength of character. He took great pleasure in sharing his enjoyment with others, and blessed many with happy memories. He will always be dearly loved and missed by all of his family and his friends.
A memorial service and reception will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday May 6, 2023, at Greenlawn East, 3540 E. Seminole, Springfield, MO 65809.
