Bryan Scott Koetje aged 39 of Missouri passed away unexpectedly on the 18th of April,2024. Bryan was born to Tim and Sue Koetje on June 25, 1984. A puzzle and fishing enthusiast who also was an avid collector of novelty t-shirts. The self described “funcle” was beloved by his nine nieces and nephews, who he adored and chose to spoil at any opportunity whether ill advised or not. Bryan made a lasting impression on everyone that he came in contact with. He was always ready with a joke or an opportunity to make someone laugh. He graduated from Trinity Christian College in Illinois in 2007. After college, he began a career at Service Master as a disaster restoration specialist in large loss. An avid world traveler he would venture anywhere to see his favorite animal the hippopotamus.
Bryan is preceded in death by his grandfather Harold Koetje, and grandparents Henry and Theresa Sytsema. He is survived by his loving wife Amanda. Parents Tim & Susan Koetje of Grand Rapids, MI, siblings, Adam Koetje, Leanne and Robbie De Vries, and Brent Koetje. Grandmother Annetta Koetje. In laws, Thomas and Pamela Palicki, Adam and Crystal Palicki, Eric and Tija Palicki, and Paula and Nick Sharp. As well as a vast array of aunts, uncles, and cousins. Visitation will be held on the 28th of April from 1-3pm at Greenlawn Funeral Home East

Additionally a visitation will be held on the 4th of May from 10 am to 12 pm with a service to follow at 12 pm at Zaagman Memorial Chapel 2800 Burton St, Grand Rapids, MI. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in Bryan’s memory to Wildlife Conservation Society or the World Wildlife Fund.
