It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Carl Dorlan Lawson, who entered eternal rest on September 8, 2025, at the age of 87. Carl was born on November 3, 1937, in Thornfield, Missouri, and spent his life surrounded by the love of family and friends. He was a resident of Springfield, Missouri, where he nurtured a legacy of faith and devotion.
Carl was a steadfast believer and a cherished member of the Church of Christ. His faith was the cornerstone of his life, guiding him in all endeavors. He was a man of few words, yet his actions spoke volumes about his character and the values he held dear.
He was united in marriage to Elter Mae Duckworth on July 16, 1955. They celebrated 70 years of happiness before his passing.
A dedicated warehouse worker in the food production industry, Carl spent many years at Kraft, where he was known for his diligent work ethic and amicable spirit. Outside of work, he found joy in the great outdoors, embracing moments spent hunting and fishing—activities that fueled his passion for nature. Carl also had a fondness for old westerns, reveling in tales of the Old West, which brought him comfort and nostalgia.
He was met in heaven by his parents and two sisters Venitta Wallace and Charlette Clayton.
Carl is survived by his beloved spouse, Elter Lawson; daughters Carla and her husband Jason Lemaster and Lisa and her husband Robert McCann; and son David and his wife Deanna Lawson; a sister Audrey Turner and her husband Jim, 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. His absence will be profoundly felt by all who knew and loved him.
A visitation at Greenlawn Funeral Home, North will precede the funeral service on Monday, September 15, 2025, starting at 1:00 PM, followed by the service at 2:00 PM also in the funeral home. Family and friends will gather to pay their respects and honor a life well-lived. Following the service, Carl will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
In this time of mourning, we honor Carl Dorlan Lawson, a devoted husband, father, and friend. May his soul find peace, and may his memory live on in the hearts of those he touched.
