Carl Lawrence McGee was born July 12, 1918 in Buffalo, Mo. His parents were William Kelly and Nora Gladden McGee. He departed this life February 28, 2011.
He married Faye Ethridge January 10, 1946 in Springfield, Mo. after an honorable discharge from the Air Force in November 1945. He served in World War II in many areas, his last being Spain and Guam patching B29’s that came in from bombing Japan. He was a member of Lone Star Baptist Church. When he left his home, he was faithful to attend services wherever he lived. He enjoyed very much playing games with family and friends. He especially liked playing bingo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Faye; and an infant daughter, Shirley Kay; a brother, Kelly; a sister, Minnie Fowler; a nephew, Larry Fowler; and a sister, Zola.
He is survived by son, Jim and his wife Marti of Springfield and son, Ryan and wife Jessica; and daughter, Amy; daughter, Janice Mitchell and husband Gary of Willard and daughters, Paula Green and husband Don and Cheryl Fletcher and husband John, their boys Bailey, Jacob, and Jesse.
Visitation will be at 12:00 p.m and funeral services at 1:00 p.m Saturday, March 5th, in Greenlawn Funeral Home North; burial will be in Mission Ridge Cemetery at Urbana.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Missouri Veterans Home at Mt. Vernon or McGee Chapel near Charity.
