Carlene Rae (Morton) Dix, age 70, of Lampe Missouri, went to be with the lord after a courageous battle with a long illness. Carlene passed away peacefully on November 9, 2009, with her husband and children at her side. After retirement she resided with her husband at Table Rock Lake, they were formerly of Kansas City, Missouri.
She was born in Akron, Colorado and graduated at Strafford High School in 1956
Strafford, Missouri. She and her sister Viva moved to Houston, Texas after graduation from high school and worked for Delta Airlines, where Carlene worked until her marriage to Robert Dix, December 17, 1957 in Houston Texas. She then relocated to Chicago, Illinois when her husband who became employed with North Central Airlines. Carlene and her husband would have celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary this December. Together with her husband, friends and family she traveled around the world and had the opportunity to see and experience many other countries and cultures.
She was preceded in death by her parents Troy Raymond and Elberta Morton; Viva Dean and infant sister Shirley Kay Morton; brothers Freddie and Clyde Morton.
She is survived by her husband Robert and three children. Keith and wife Debbie of Stilwell, Kansas; Marcia Morris and husband Mark of Trimble, Missouri; Debbie Egan and husband Bill of Kansas City, Missouri. She had the pleasure of being the grandmother of her precious grandchildren, Kyle Derringer of Stilwell, Kansas; Mathew and Marshall Morris; Melissa Morris Barnes her husband Larry and their baby Maysie; Brendan and Nolan Egan of Kansas City, Missouri; brother Steve Morton of Springfield, Missouri and Sister Patricia Grider Sloan of Willard, Missouri. In addition to numerous nieces, nephews, brother and sister-in-laws, cousins and close friends.
She will be missed by all who she touched in life but most of all we will miss her laughter, huge heart and beautiful smile.
Services will be at Greenlawn Funeral Home East 3540 E. Seminole Springfield, Missouri 65809. The visitation is Sunday, November 15th 3pm-6pm. Funeral services will be Monday, November 16th 1pm and graveside services to follow at Missouri Veterans Cemetery.
The family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
