Carol Jean (Hillhouse) Ramsey, age 78, Nixa passed away Sunday, June 5th, 2022, after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s.
Carol was born January 16, 1944 in Marionville, MO. She is the daughter of John and Pearle Hillhouse. She was a 1962 graduate of Marionville High School, where she was salutatorian, and where she was very active as a cheer leader and involved in many other school activities. She was united in marriage to David Ramsey on November 6, 1970, in Marionville, MO. Carol retired from the city of Springfield after working for 27 years as an administrative assistant; where she worked for the Fire Department, Waste Water Treatment Plant, Police Department, and in the City Planning Department. Carol never missed an episode of Wheel of Fortune, she loved word puzzles and planting flowers. She will always be remembered as a great cook and hostess. Some of her families’ fondest memories was going to the lake, where she enjoyed water skiing. Carol and Dave were members of the Springfield Chevy Car Club, where they made several lifelong friends. Carol enjoyed watching sports, she was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Missouri State Bears Basketball fan. Her greatest love was taking care of her family and extended family. Carol was always a hard working and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and devoted follower of her extended family with all their plans and endeavors. She always had a kind and gentle spirit that will be missed by all those that loved her so dearly. Her love of the Lord was always a constant in her life.
Survivors include her loving husband, David Ramsey; one daughter, Robin Hopkins, Nixa, MO; son Brian Ramsey Holly Pond, AL; three granddaughters, Sydney and Maddy Hopkins and Harmoni Cole; two grandsons, James and Marshall Ramsey; four sisters-in-law, Becky Strunk, Mary Bair, Martha Huff, and Mary Hillhouse; three brothers-in-law, Wayne Bair, Dave Cooper, and Jim Steiner; and a host of family and friends.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, John and Pearle Hillhouse; brother, Jerry Hillhouse; sister, Janice Steiner.
The family would like to thank the staff of Integrity Hospice and Nixa Nursing and Rehab for all of their care and support.
The family will receive friends from 4-5 pm, Thursday, June 9th at Greenlawn Funeral Home South. A celebration of Carol’s life will be held Thursday, June 9th, 2022 at 5:00 pm in Greenlawn Funeral Home – South Springfield, with a private burial in Missouri Veterans Cemetery.
In honor of Carol, memorial donations may be made in her name to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
