Carolyn Sue (Barker) Maloney, 74, of Bolivar, Missouri passed away on March 20, 2024. Carolyn was born alongside, Wm. Kent Barker, on April 7, 1949, in Humansville, Missouri, to Dwight and Mary (Pridgen) Barker. Carolyn was a 1967 graduate of Fair Play High School, where she was active in many sports including cheerleading. Carolyn was saved and baptized at Bismont Missionary Baptist Church near Bolivar.
Carolyn loved to work, she started her working career at Bolivar Garment Factory and Teter’s Floral. She married Max Maloney on September 9, 1976, in Miami, Oklahoma. Max was a dentist and Carolyn worked chairside for him for many years. After Max’s retirement she worked for the McQuarry Brothers Drug Company in Springfield, Missouri. When the business sold, Carolyn went to work at Cox Hospital in the billing department, where she retired from in 2017. Carolyn loved gardening and all kinds of flowers. She was an avid reader, anything, and everything. Carolyn and her best friend, Dorothy Knowles, enjoyed playing golf. Carolyn loved being a grandma, her favorite job of all.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Max Maloney; her twin brother, Wm. Kent Barker; infant sister, Peggy Barker, and sister-in-law, Carolee Barker.
She is survived by her children: Michelle Slagle and Mike Bruce, and his wife, Amy; grandchildren: Katie Slagle, Derick Slagle, and Jessica Gray, and husband Dustin, Claire Ellis, and husband, Daniel, Zachary Bruce, and Mary Bruce; great grandchildren: Alice and Josie; Sister, Eileen Barker; Brothers: Theodore (Ted) Barker and Danny Barker, and wife, Teresa, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A graveside service for Carolyn will take place on March 28, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery in Bolivar, Missouri.
