Carrol Lund, loving wife, mother of four and grandmother of seven, passed away surrounded by the love of her family on August 10, 2023. A resident of Springfield, Missouri since 1977, Carrol was born on August 4, 1945, in Omaha Nebraska to Alton and Pearle Dolinsky. Carrol is survived by her husband of 56 years, Jack Lund, her daughter Sarah (Mike) Marron of New Jersey, son Eric (Tracy) Lund of Georgia, son Ethan (Lindsey) Lund of Missouri, son Chris Lund of Missouri and grandchildren Skylar, Michael, Norah, Summer, Gracelynn, Olivia and Amelia.
An avid traveler and lifelong student, Carrol studied Japanese in both Hawaii and Japan during her time at the University of Omaha followed later by a Masters in special education at Drury University. Carrol utilized her talents as a Japanese and French teacher in the Springfield Missouri school district for 20 years winning recognition during her tenure as Teacher of the Year.
She retired from teaching in 2010. However, this, as with anything else in her life, didn’t slow her down one bit. She dedicated her time to her many passions including authoring a book detailing the life of her father-in-law who gave the ultimate sacrifice for his country in WWII, advocating for mental health education and awareness, serving as a Regional Director of the Springfield chapter of the National Alliance of Mental Illness and leading educational seminars and programs for the state police departments and the greater community. Carrol was a born servant leader who had a gift for inspiring those around her.
Carrol lived for spending time with her family and friends, hosting gourmet annual gatherings and sharing her infectious positive energy with all those she loved. She and Jack enjoyed time spent both at Beaver Lake in Arkansas and at their home in Springfield sharing their warmth and generosity.
