Cecilia Olivares Wood passed away peacefully on the evening of Wednesday, December 17, 2025, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of 93, surrounded by the love of her family and the comfort of her home.
Cecilia lived a life defined by devotion, perseverance, and unconditional love. A devoted mother, she raised three children while working full-time, creating a home grounded in stability, warmth, and unwavering support. Her family was always her greatest priority, and she showed up for them—steadfast, present, and strong—through every season of life. She led not by words, but by example, teaching determination, generosity, and resilience simply by the way she lived.
Born on December 2, 1932, in Mercedes, Texas, to Audelio Cacares Olivares and Susanna Garza Olivares, Cecilia spent her early years in the Corpus Christi area. She graduated from Miller High School, where she was an active member of the Hi Fairnessee Girls Club, already displaying the involvement and sense of community that would remain part of her character throughout her life.
In 1972, Cecilia relocated with her children to Springfield, Missouri, where she built a life rooted in hard work and faith. She dedicated 30 years of service to the State of Missouri Department of Revenue and was a longtime member of St. Agnes Catholic Church. Her faith was quiet but deep, reflected in her compassion, humility, and care for others.
Cecilia’s legacy lives on through those she loved so deeply. She is survived by her sister, Rose Torres (Tony); her children, Tony Wood (Ann St.Germain) Patti Teel (Scott), and Christopher Wood (Becky); seven grandchildren; and twenty-one great-grandchildren, all of whom were a source of immense pride and joy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; two sisters; and a beloved great-granddaughter.
Cecilia will be remembered for her strength, her generosity, her enduring faith, and the love she gave so freely. Her presence was steady, her heart was kind, and her life was a blessing to all who knew her.
A memorial service will be held in Corpus Christi, Texas, in late spring of 2026. Arrangements are under the direction of Greenlawn Funeral Home South.
